In a landmark step toward addressing one of Sikkim’s most pressing health challenges, Bioinformatics Centre has supported the Department of Science and Technology (DST), to organize an important high-level seminar on 6th May 2025 at Tashiling Secretariat, Gangtok, on cancer research and prevention Sikkim. This seminar was convened on the directions of Hon’ble Chief Minister- Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), to DST to bring together the best minds, research institutions and local stakeholders to address the growing threat of cancer to Sikkimese society. Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister, Science and Technology Department, has chaired this seminar. Dr. Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has also attended this meeting. The seminar was attended by various top most research institute’s scientist including DBT Govt. of India, ICMR-NICPR Noida, Health Department, Govt. of Sikkim, ACTREC Navi Mumbai, Manipal Hospital.
